M&E Art
M&E Art is a collaborative teaching practice founded by Melbourne-based artists Ellen Giannikos and Mac Hewitt. Together, they run a range of creative art programs across schools, community centres, and specialised facilities throughout Melbourne. Their programs are designed to be inclusive, engaging, and confidence-building, offering young people meaningful opportunities to explore their creativity in supportive and inspiring environments.
With extensive backgrounds in both the arts and the disability sector, Ellen and Mac bring a thoughtful, patient, and empathetic approach to every class they deliver. Their combined expertise allows them to create experiences that encourage self-expression, skill development, and joyful artistic discovery for students of all abilities.
About Our Teachers
Ellen Giannikos is a contemporary artist specialising in acrylic, watercolour, and ceramics. Her work explores colour, emotion, and storytelling through a mix of traditional and modern techniques.
Alongside her studio practice, Ellen teaches visual art programs across a variety of Melbourne schools and facilities. With a strong background in the disability sector and extensive experience supporting neurodiverse individuals, particularly those on the autism spectrum. Ellen is passionate about helping young artists build confidence, express themselves, and discover the joy of making art.
Mac Hewitt is a professional artist and animator with a degree in animation and a strong focus on human and animal anatomy. He specialises in oil and acrylic painting, using these mediums to explore expressive character design, dynamic movement, and visual storytelling.
Mac has experience working across a variety of creative settings, from studio environments to community art programs. His teaching style is friendly, practical, and accessible, making complex concepts easy for young artists to understand. He is passionate about helping students develop strong foundational drawing and painting skills while encouraging imagination, experimentation, and personal style.
